Slate quarriers at Ballachulish2440 viewsfrom a booklet by Barbara Fairweather MBE and published by Glencoe and North Lorn Folk Museum, Glencoe and including several Livingstone quarriers. The West quarry was opened in 1693 and the East quarry in 1694 and that there is a tradition that it was some slate quarry workers from Easdale, possibly ancestors of John from Easdale, who were passing through the village and who first observed the type of rock at Ballachulish. (Thanks to Margaret Stewart.)
