Re: Edinburgh Military Tattoo Saturday 19 Aug 2017

Love the Tattoo - been four times I think. Have to have a serious look at my finances to see if I can make this though as I wasn't planning another trip until I retire. The tattoo is an absolutely wonderful experience, and I too urge clan members to go if they can. Kaye on the other side of the earth

Re: New Zealand Livingstones

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to this and I will drop Sue a note about the family. Just butting in here to say that I did transcribe, from the Registers in St John's, Ballachullish, the marriage of Charles Livingston and Dorothy McColl, both residing in Laroch on the 16th of May 1842. I ...

Re: Bachuil House

I trust that all goes well for you and the family in your sale and the move, and only wish that I could afford to buy it. I would love to live in Scotland, and to actually be in the area of my ancestors would be fantastic - but unrealistic for me, although I do hope to visit at some stage (having dr...

Re: New Zealand Livingstones

Welcome 4th cousin. While I'm not a descendant of Charles and Dorothy, my great grandmother Janet/Jessie was their neice and she came out to New Zealand with them. Janet and her brother Dugald were orphaned in the mid 1840's and then they lived with C&D. Dugald did not come out to New Zealand bu...

Re: Questions about Kilts

Congratulations David - sounds like a great day for you and your fiancee to get married. You may like to go the really old fashioned way of wearing a plaid - as Jamie does in "Outlander" - you just self pleat it and then roll yourself into it :D . I believe it takes a lot of agility and pr...

Re: Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands

One of my colleagues downloaded this for me, and I must say I really enjoyed it. It was great to see Lismore (having only seen it from the road to Oban), and also to hear how Lismore is pronounced - in all my 30 years of researching in the area I've been saying it incorrectly :-) It was lovely to se...

Re: Thank you to Jill Richmond!

Apologies for the delay in publicly thanking Jill also - I haven't been to our forum since before I left on leave on Dec 21. However I have emailed Jill personally to thank her for having the courage to take up the position of Secretary when the Society was being set up. But I would also like to do ...

Re: MWC 2014

Now, after doing some websurfing I see that things are in limbo and The Gathering doesn't appear to be taking place :(
Will be watching for updates with great interest.

Re: MWC 2014

Hi Jay, First of all, you want to go to your travel agent and ask him/her to put a package together for you: flights, hotels etc. I do not know how long you intend to stay in Scotland, but a few ideas spring to mind. I see that the Highland Games Masters Games Championships are being held the secon...

Re: International Clan Gathering at Stirling in 2014

I am also planning to attend - I moved my 2 month sojourn from July/Aug 2013 to July/Aug 2014 so I could be there at the time of the gathering. I'm sorry it's not going to be in Edinburgh - free board there :-) (is my Scottish heritage showing?) but am looking forward to catching up with clan member...
