John Livingstone of Listowel, Ontario
This article from the Perth-Stratford Archives (Ontario, Canada) came out yesterday in the Stratford Beacon Herald: https://www.stratfordbeaconherald.com/opinion/a-treasured-piece-of-livingstone-from-listowel I don't think there's any new genealogical information to be found here, but the article fe...

Re: Duncan Livingston and Christian Beaton of Lettermore, Mull
Yes -- agreed that the dates / generations do not work out for "my" Alexander (settled in Dalhousie) to be a first cousin of Dr. David. I've done that math numerous times over the last few decades! The *closest possible* seems to be 2nd cousins (connection being a brother to Dr. David's gr...

Re: Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario Livingstons
A sad ending to the story of Duncan Livingstone, son of Alexander of Mull and Dalhousie Twsp., Lanark County. Earlier in this thread (stretching over 12 years or more!) we discussed that Duncan took over the farm in Dalhouse Township after the 1840 death of his father, and sold the farm in the early...

Re: Duncan Livingston and Christian Beaton of Lettermore, Mu
There is an ancestry.com (U.S.) user named Tyler Livingston who descends from Donald L. and Mary Brown of Islay (and then Simoce Co, Ontario). He and I have a very small DNA connection via the ancestry.com testing. He would apparently fit your criteria for the Y testing. I sent him a link to the web...

Re: Duncan Livingston and Christian Beaton of Lettermore, Mu
Having done more investigation of these ancestry.com trees today, I have edited my posting, above, about DNA matches to better express the doubt about any direct connection to the Neil Livingston/Mary Morrison family of Ulva, Blantyre, and Dr. David Livingstone.
Just a few unexplained DNA crumbs!

Re: Duncan Livingston and Christian Beaton of Lettermore, Mu
P.S. -- I have now read replies on another thread in this forum about John Livingston(e) of Cape Breton (Match 1 above) NOT being a son of Neil and Mary Morrison -- and there often being attempts to fit him into that family. Just acknowledging that -- and that this DNA match is only a general indica...

Re: Duncan Livingston and Christian Beaton of Lettermore, Mu
I certainly hope I thanked you for this information last year! But I find no evidence that I did. I'm grateful for the newsclipping citations, and fascinated by the Gaelic Bible story. Perhaps it will surface in the family one day. Some interesting DNA connections have surfaced via ancestry.com. The...

Re: Duncan Livingston, Custom House Officer, Glasgow
Update: In returning to Scotland's People OPR searching to double-check marriage records, I searched for ALL Isabella/Isabel/Isobel Campbells married between 1763 and 1775, and eliminated the spouse name Livngston(e), then browsed. There I did find a likely match: CAMPBELL, ISABEL m. NIEL LIVINGSTON...

Re: Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario Livingstons
P.S. -- I'll add this "note to self" I just re-encountered: A Civil War enlistment for a Duncan Livingston of Blue Earth, Fairibault County, MN, has been located. He enlisted in Company G of the First MN infantry battalion, in March 1865 and was discharged the end of May 1865. Birthplace n...
