Other ships to PEI, early 1800s?
<t>Hi Donald - I would consider the recurrence of an unusual name (like Miles) a very good indication of a family tie - even though it isn't positive proof. I'm thinking that there may exist other kinds of records for my own line that may provide me with similar general indications - perhaps even so...

Other ships to PEI, early 1800s?
<t>Where there are no records Donald, there will sadly be little to learn. I still feel it may be worth looking into whatever civil records, tenants lists etc. that I may be able to locate. Even though I will likely not be able to trace Donald and family positively back into Morvern, I may pick up a...

Other ships to PEI, early 1800s?
<t>Hi again, Donald - I would be interested in learning what you find out from your book. Is the 1779 Argyll tenants list available anywhere online? In any case, I hope to spend at least a few hours researching records in Morvern or other areas of Argyll, when we visit there for the Gathering next y...

Livingstones and Livingstons in Canada Circa 1901
<t>Hi Donald - From my own standpoint, I've been very satisfied with the new information we've picked up lately. I tend to concentrate on a project like this for a time, then slow down for a period as I work on other pressing matters, and then hit it again as time allows. I've been spending some tim...

Other ships to PEI, early 1800s?
<t>Hello, all - I'm interested in information anyone on the forum may have put together on ships in addition to the Rambler of Leith, that had Livingstones on their passenger lists during the early 1800's - especially those settling in Lot 65. I thought it might be interesting to explore the possibi...

<t>Hi Jewel - I'm certainly no expert on religious diversity in historic Scotland - but I limited my church queries for years, based on the fact that I was raised Catholic, and that I assumed the family had always been Catholic. It was only after we found the (Presbyterian) baptismal record of my gr...

<t>My wife Jackie has looked into lodging in Edinburgh for the period as well - and found several venues already "unavailable". She opines that professional tour agents may be grabbing up available rooms and tickets in preparation for the event. If a contingent of Clan McLea/Livingstone plans to sit...

Gathering 2009 Suggested PLAN
<t>We have been exploring the idea of attending the Gathering, and while looking over the passport order form I noticed that the "gold" passports are already listed as "sold out". It seems to me quite early for this to have occurred; but then again it has been predicted that this should be the large...

<t>Hello, Roberta - I am curious which ship John came over on, and where you located the information? I have been somewhat frustrated myself, with the inaccuracies in many of the transcribed records that are available on the Internet. Even the reports of the highly researched and well-documented 180...

Livingstones and Livingstons in Canada Circa 1901
Hi, Donald - My brother David has indicated that he believes the family had a Selkirk connection - but I'm not sure what info he has used to make that inference. I have no doubt that Lord Selkirk had some strong influence on every settler - especially Scottish ones - of the period. R
