Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Allan, Heres something interesting. According to the Kilninian and Kilmore Parish records there was indeed a Catharine Livingston and her husband Duncan Livingston who were living in Morvern Parish in 1811 when their first child was baptised and then moved to guess what Kilninian Parish at Lephe...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

I'm just having a look at YDNA again, although it now shows up a lot of matches since the last time I looked. I have a 37 marker with genetic distance of -1 to Robert Livingstone. Its a while since I have looked here, but if I remember correctly it had me matching the Barons line in under 8 generati...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Allan, Ok I have figured something out that now makes sense I think regarding Duncan's father Hugh. See if this make any sense. I think the notion that Hugh was a farmer born abt. 1811 is a sound one. The only Hugh Livingston born anywhere near 1811 in Kilninian and Kilmore and that is single in...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Looking at the clan family tree, there is a Duncan, b. 14 June 1777 at Bachuil. I was wondering where i got my Duncan birth estimate from, and it must be from Roberts Notes.

Does anyone know anything about the Duncan above?

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Allan, Thank-you for your response. You have done some incredibly meticulous research on Hugh his father Duncan and family and I love the scanned documents. There are however a few updates I should tell you that affects a portion of your research somewhat, in particular that of the Dr. Livingsto...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Allan, I see the errors of my ways. I had located the right Duncan Livingston born Tobermory abt. 1853 on 13 Lauriston Street Boilermaker and his wife Flora McInnes but when I checked Duncan Livingstons in Tobermory born around 1853 I found a Duncan Livingston born 1852 son of Archibald Livingst...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Andrew, I think from what I have seen that this is a different family line than he has researched but this was the only Duncan livington born abt. 1852/1853 in Tobermory that was living in Grennock, Renfrewshire circa 1900. If he was to confirm the full names of his great grandparents who reside...

Re: Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi Allan, I think you have come up with a different family line than this but this was only Duncan Livingston family of Tobermory origin I found at Greenock circa 1900. This is the family line of the son of Duncan Livingston born 1852 at Tobermory Boilermaker of Greenock Renfrewshire circa 1891, 19...

Tips for researching around 1750-1800

Hi, I started researching my tree last year, which was the first time I had looked at any ancestral information. It was a mixture of slow and quick, but ultimately rewarding. I had researched my tree up to a hugh livingstone c(1808) who married a Marry Macdonald (1822). Hugh had brothers Neil (1811)...
