William Livingston - Indian Affairs Agent - Caradoc Reserve

Hi All I thought I would put this information on here regarding William Livingston being an Indian Affairs agent in Ontario. There is alot of information when he was appointed an agent and more again when he was removed from the posting and mention of his death while he was in the position. I though...

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research

Here is an interesting read, regarding Duncan Livingstone of Whycocomagh, NS. Apparently he had been squatting on the Indian Reservation cutting timber and etc. Upon him being removed, he assaulted authorities with an axe. I'm not sure what the outcome of this was but I would say he likely served ja...

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research

Hi All So in the month of August I am going to the Whycocomagh area to see the places my gggrandfather hailed from. We will spend a couple of days in the area checking out the sights and going to the cemeteries. I am hoping there is a geneology research site in the area. If any other local researche...

Re: John Hugh Livingston

IMG_1700.JPG HI Donald I think it is possible there was an Allan/Colin Livingston in the 1861 Inverness census. The Beaton Institute and the webpage transcription in my last post both recognized it as Colin for one and Allan for the other. I think it looks more like an Allan than a Colin. If you lo...

Re: John Hugh Livingston

Hi All I have been pondering over the dilemma where it looks like Alexander and Colin were not brothers. Now I know there is a mystery Allan, brother of John Jr., in the mix and it has been suspected that he died at child birth. Now here is my hypothesis. I had looked at the microfilm for the 1861 c...

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research

After everyone has carefully looked at the results, it is apparent that the evidence is not as apparent as first thought. We are going to require further DNA samples from the Mull River branch or even from other members of my family, to be able to feel more confident in proving that Alexander and Co...

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research

The DNA testing results for Colin Livingston, born 1818 in Scotland has been completed. It has been proven that Colin's closest match in the DNA project is Alexander Livingston born 1814 in Scotland and settled in the Whycocomagh area in 1823, therabouts. This is what was speculated and it is great ...

Re: John Hugh Livingston

Hi All I love it when things start coming together. If all three families are proved through DNA testing to be related, I can see a massive family reunion looming someday in the future in Cape Breton. Our DNA family testing, I believe is just about complete, but so far it is not posted yet so I can'...

Re: Rupert Capstick and Minnie Martin?

Hi All

Just wanted everyone to know that I have made contact with a descendant of Rupert Capstick and Minnie Martin. Just to clarify, Minnie is Colin Livingston's granddaughter.
