Re: King and Queen Co., VA Livingstons
Thank you for the very nice summary, Catherine. I was thinking that my James David Livingston could have been the grandson of your John Jr but with the connection to the Poropotank Livingstons that is out. My DNA connection is to the Dr. David group. One area I would suggest you visit in Scotland wo...

Catharine,
Do you have a male Livingston relative that would be interested in joining the MacLea/Livingstone/Boggs DNA project on FamilyTreeDNA? This could assist you by pointing you in the correct direction for continuing research.

Re: King and Queen Co., VA Livingstons
I would be interested in learning about the descendants of your John Livingston. I have a James and his first son John that might fit in there. I don't know where James was born in 1786 but know that he lived in Western PA.

Re: William Livingstone
You are welcome. If you know where he was born it might be possible to find his birth record or the census that could give information on his family. Our Historian, Donald Clink, might be able to find some more information for you. He helped me a few years ago.

Re: William Livingstone
Livingston(e) is not an uncommon name. I look in the phone book for the Denver metro area and there are a lot. There are actually three Greg Livingston's in the area. Apparently there are not that many Livingstons that do the DNA testing. We have several in our project but nothing near the numbers i...

Re: William Livingstone
You are correct about the DNA project, it is for the male line. If you have a male Livingston relative that you could convince to join the project that would help you. There were a lot of Livingstons that came through Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas. I have traced mine back to my 4...

Re: William Livingstone
As a fireman he probably shoveled the coal on the old steam locomotives as opposed to being in the fire department of a town. Especially true if living in a small town as they were usually volunteers.

Re: William Livingstone
You might try joining the MacLea/Livingstone/Boggs DNA project. This would help point you in the direction to continue your research. I have 2 Williams in my tree. One was born in 1840 in either PA or MO while the other in was born in 1810 and always lived in PA. I noticed when I approved you for th...

Donald,
Do you know if there is any DNA connection between the Livingstons of New York and Dr. David Livingstone? Just curious since so many people claim a relationship to one, the other, or both.

Re: Livingstone the village dates back to 12 th century
As Donald says above, our clan has never been a big "showy" clan like the Campbells, Stewarts, and others but we have been involved with quite a bit in the history of Scotland, both Lowland and Highland branches. On the Lowland side do a search on Callendar House which was a Livingston str...
