Ballachulish Livingstons & Livingston USA
<t>Dear John, I have looked at the parish records for Ballachulish and did not find your James or Isabelle. I then looked in surrounding areas. Also no result. Casting the net a wee further I did find a marriage record for James Livingston to Isabelle Clerk, dated 30th April 1837 on Lismore. These a...

Update!!
OK- I've now found another 3 McLean families who've tested and look to be Isles I1c cousin's. This I believe supports evidence that we have found an enclave of Isles I1c in the old area of the Abbots. I'll keep digging! All the best! Grant.

Isles I1c-Update!
<t> We have a hint of Isles I1c not only in co. Down, as represented by the McAleavey family in the old homelands, but I should mention we have located an Isles I1c McLean family. As we know the McLeans are recorded as descending from one of the Abbots of Lismore. To bring the readers of this forum ...

Isles I1c
<t>Hi Donald, My understanding is that two branches of the MacDonnsleibhe survived the Norman invasion of co.Down. One went to Donegal, as you mention, the other to Scotland. I believe Woulfe may have mentioned this. In terms of Donegal I am not sure that this house has survived in the male line. I ...

Sorry getting used to this forum!
<t>Hello Sam, You must be near the location of the Skirmish of Babylon Hill, where in 1642 Sir Ralph Hopton an officer of Charles I. Stuart, defended against Cromwell's troops. 20 Royalists fell that day. Hopton personally attended on the person of the King at York in July 1642. Hopton was appointed...

DNA - Where are we?
<t>I'd like to reply to this with several basic points. Given the history of the area- co.Down and Antrim should be seen as an extention of west coast Scotland. The traffic was traditionally seasonal. Iam not surprised that Y-DNA in old lineages is found both in Ireland and Scotland from this area. ...
