Hi Bryan I have just seen your message ,having had no time to do genealogy for weeks, and you are the first person I have ever found who is researching the same family as myself! My maiden name is Livingston and I grew up in NE scotland, but now live in Australia. I am also descended from James Livingston and Isobel Smith through their son Alexander, butthen through him and first wife Elizabeth Robertson and their son James b.19/1/1845 at Rockypool Rayne. Eliz died and Barbar Loggie was 2nd wife of Alexander as you know. I would love to have a discussion with you about the possible parents and line of James Livingston and Isobel Smith as they have been tricky to work out as I'm sure you have found so maybe both of us will have something about them that will connect.
