A while ago, I consulted a CD (268) of Scottish Immigrants to North America, 1600s-1800s, Scots Colonists: America, 1612-1783, Surnames M-N. from Genealogy.com. I found these McLeas on p. 214 (and have no further information, including what the numbers mean): 4357.

Its not often I can add anything to this forum with all you knowledgeable people around (altho' I do love to follow all the threads) but I think you will find that a flesher was a butcher.

Ne'er cast a clout til May is out is the old expression which actually means don't shed your clothing until the may/hawthorn blossom is out. Behind Bachuil is an ancient hawthorn tree with reputedly mystical powers.
