I have had a farewell email from Cousin Rob. His strength is failing rapidly. Our clan owe a great debt of gratitude to Rob.

I would like to express my own gratitude to Rob for all the work he has done on the clan's behalf. Valerie and I were delighted that he was able to visit us at Bachuil. ALASTAIR Alasdair Mconlea na Maconlea agus Bachuil

I won't write more now, but suffice to say that I wouldn't be here and wouldn't be the active contributor to the DNA project or our collaborative Clan history if not for Rob.

Dear Niall, I was so sorry to see your latest posting about Rob. I have always enjoyed his contributions to the website. He has such a fund of knowledge about our Clan which he has so generously shared with us all. I have cause to thank him on a personal basis for the time and trouble he took over an enquiry of mine earlier this year. I had such a nice email from him about it, and I am only sorry that I have never been able to meet him, for he is undoubtedly an extremely nice man. Rob and his family will certainly be remembered in my thoughts and prayers. Jill

To All, I greatly regret to hear the news of Robert's declining health. Though he had told me some time ago of his health problems, I am sorry to hear that he has taken a turn for the worse. When I first began my internet research of my ancestor Miles Livingstone of Morvern/Isle of Lismore, it was Robert who took the time to write me a long e-mail introducing me to our probable highland Livingstone connection and what he knew about the Clan's history and origins. Though we later profoundly disagreed on the Livingstone name origins, the focus of the DNA research and the importance of clan folklore and Livingstone legends to the clan research, we never let this intefere with our friendship and loyalty to the clan. Robert's contribution to the McLea Livingstone site over the last few years was greatly appreciated by all of us family history researchers I am sure and I will miss not seeing his responses in the weeks to come. with sympathy Donald (Livingstone) Clink

Thank you for the posts Niall and Alisdair Rob has been an inspiration to all of us who have been able to learn anything about our heritage using not only DNA, but also the internet. As you would all know, discovering his work gave my own research whole new directions, and from others in the DNA project and in this forum I know that he affected many in the same way. We'll miss his constant energy and input on all things to do with this clan. Andrew

I remember a few years back on the Stewart of Appin list- Rob answered my McClay inquiry. Thank you to both the Chief and the Young Bachuil. I wanted to write something to Rob, and this is a very poor attempt at the G

I am sorry to hear about Rob. We have never met but I feel that I am saying goodbye to one of my cousins, although distant. Although I don't contribute much, I love the long distance conversations through the web. I would like to thank Rob publicly for the work he has done for the clan. We will all miss him. Jane

My prayers are with you and your family. I am very new to this group and are uncertain of my ancestral placement within the family at this time. However, I intend to learn more about the Livingstone family and its history and I intend to read and learn something from this great man. Roberts hard work wont get wasted as others will certainly learn from it in the years to come. God Bless, Bob
