Battle of Culloden video

Post by D.W.Livingston »

I just finished watching an interesting video. It is a video collage of Culloden from 2006. http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseacti ... id=4207491 It has a lot of the Clan names that fought there.... but not ours. :( David

Battle of Culloden video

Hi David, As I said there is so little written about our clan and there is this tendency to marginalize or ignore us because we are relatively small. And yet we have a great hero Donald Livingstone of Movern at the Battle of Culloden who rescued the Appin Regimental banner. I believe that the victorious Duke of Cumberland had most of the Jacobite banners he could lay his hands on burned. Donald Livingstone's tale of escape from the Redcoats is the stuff of Western Argyll legend. regards, Donald

I suspect that one of the reasons why we are not mentioned as a clan in the video is that we fought under the Appin banner. Due to the immense bravery of Donald Livingstone the Appin banner was the only one not to be captured by the Hanoverians. All the others were ceremonially burned at the Mercat Cross in Edinburgh. Regards to you both, Jill
