SCAN says about the Tax Records: "This example from Argyll (held by the National Archives of Scotland reference E69/3/1) includes the name of the person resident in the property and the number of hearths taxed. Sometimes the designation of the resident is included in the record too but occasionally just the account of the hearth money collected survives."
