Gillean of the Battle Axe and Domlig or Cuduilig

Post by Andrew Lancaster4 »

I have at least one McLane DNA match to one of our DNA families, and I was therefore interested to learn whether there is any proven connection between their chiefs and Argyll before the time of Robert Bruce. On our clan's webpage, there is a remark (actually concerning a tartan) as follows:-

Let's try again. The quote was:- Maclaine of Lochbuie and the Macleans of Duart and Morvern descend from this Gilleeoin (Gillean of the Battle Axe) who in turn descends from Domlig or Cuduilig (the Hound of Leaves), Abbot of Lismore circa 1150.
