Donald Livingston of Colonsay & Pictou Nova Scotia

Post by Marshall Thompson »

My GG grandfather Donald Livingston married Mary Graham on Feb. 17, 1816 on Colonsay. They had a daughter Mary born March 3, 1817 on Colonsay, then the balance of their children were born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been told that Graham is a Colonsay family name, while Livingston is not. Would like to find ancestors on both sides.

I have an ancestor, Angus Livingstone, who married a Margaret McPhail, and who was a Chelsea Pensioner...meaning 20 years military or naval service. An Angus Livingston who had fought in the Napoleonic wars is buried at Big Bras D''Or in Nova Scotia, and his death records can''t be located in Scottish records. His son John was a weaver. There is some information on Donald Livingston in Nova Scotia on my posting about the Livingstone/McPhail migration to Prince Edward Island in 1806. All the best and keep us all posted.

Here is a link to Donald Livingstone for you Marshall! It's reasonably extensive! http://www.islandregister.com/livingston1.html My information about the Livingstones who migrated to Prince edward Island and then later to Nova Scotia is about the 3rd posting under McPhail/Livingstone migration... the first message was cut off in transcription. http://www.islandregister.com/livingston1.html
