I have been reading about the Highland Clearances as a possible reason for the emigration of my GGGGF James Livingston to Nova Scotia sometime between 1838 and 1845.

The only thing I know about my family's earlier migration is that my eldest maternal ancestor came from Rothesay, Bute, before she and her husband John McLea married in Glasgow.
