I thought that some of you, far from Lismore, might like to listen to these young people playing
Fagail Liosmor or Leaving Lismore by clicking here
http://www.isleoflismore.com/music/lismore.htm This is best done sitting by the fire with a good malt.

Thanks Niel I will check that out. We have alot of great bands and musical talent here in both pop, jazz and folk music. Many of our artist end up in the States where there is an obvious bigger market for them, but many remain proud of their own heritage and Country. The musical traditions of the highlands are very much carried on across the pond in Nova Scotia and in other parts of Canada where your highland people settled in great numbers in the 1800's. The people of Newfoundland also have their own folk music which is very much rooted in their Celtic heritage. And highland dancing is great popular in the rest of Canada. My brother in law's step mother was a Gunn, born in highland Scotland and used to teach highland dancing. regards Donald

The smiles on the faces of the Lismore Lighthouse Band are as delightful as the tune they play.

Today in the morning I studied all your last update of The Clan McLea/Livingstone. I worked several hours. Because of that I think I had a real prize at home listening "Lismore Lighthouse Band" and specially "Leaving Lismore".....I have tears in my eyes although I'm no "Liosach"... It is great Niall!!! Thank you very much!!! Maril
