I notice in Australian records, including even Naturalisation records, that a Charles Edward Livingstone who was of Swedish nationality was naturalised in 1895. Any ideas who that was? Andrew

I'm sure this could be further investigated, but it did not look like an error. Forcing a Scot to go through naturalisation before Australia's independence would not have been a very easy thing to imagine. Grant, have you seen this record before? For those who don't know the NSW State records have a great searchable website: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/ In terms of paper trails there were advantages to having your country start out as a semi-militarised prison camp! Ok, in the IGI there are only two listings for Sweden. 1. George Livingstone, son of Robert and Christina Livingstone, married 03 May 1633, Stockholm, to Magareta Bursie. 2. Jack Livingston, born 1866 Huddinge, Stockholm. It would suggest that a Livingstone family were in Stockholm ca. 1633 onwards. All the best! Grant.
