I have completely rewritten the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_MacLea and done a massive cut and paste job ov various sections with useful links. I blatantly stole the Contents layout from the MacDougall Site and it could perhaps be better organised. A major revision has been about the whole issuse as to whether we are a clan or not.

Dear Niall, Excellent rewrite, it's been needing a LOT of cleaning-up and work for some time, so it's wonderful to see the effort you went to to put all this together.

Dear Niall I think everyone who contributed so far did so in the hope that someone more qualified would fix it up later! That's you. Thanks! Andrew

Dear Niall, If you have a strap-and-buckle badge image, like the one that appears at the top of the forum, that you'd like to contribute to the article, that would also give it some more color (that is, if the copyright on the image is yours or in the public domain). Also, pictures of the Bachuil or any other McLea artifacts/places would also make a great addition --

Hello Niall, Wonderful rewrite! In terms of Linsaig the later date is given of what I believe to be a settlement of the Linsaig lands on the later

I've removed, chopped and blended some of the older bits which I suppose Niall was leaving in partly out of politeness. In many cases they have been superceded now. Two subjects I have tried to extend and update are the two I started with because they are important to DNA project participants: the DNA results, and history of the link with the surname Livingstone. I also dared to make some very small tidying up changes even in Niall's sections: for example adding a link to the parnassus flower article. Niall did a great job. Regards Andrew

Two Baronies

Post by D.W.Livingston »

Hello, I'm doing some research and came across this old thread.. Sorry :) haha "Livingstone of Bachuil petitioned the Lord Lyon for and in memory of his great great grandfather, for confirmation of his great great grandfather as Chief of the Clan McLea, recognition that he held two baronies, and a grant of arms suitable to the petitioner as chief of a West Highland clan with supporters." - What two baronies did we seek recognition for? -- If one was the Barony of the Bachuil, what was the second that the Lord Lyon did not agree on? the Feudal barony holding under the Crown? I see the part where the Lord Lyone wrote: ...It may be that at some time in the future more evidence may be found to support the theory of two distinct titles but, on the basis of the evidence now available, I am not prepared to accept that there is more than one single barony title.
