Hi folks, I have several McClay/McLeas in my 'tree' in the 1700s and so in Polmont/Falkirk area of Scotland. They were middle class -- the one was a spirit merchant. Is anyone else here tracing this particular group or determined their relationship to the higland clan? As some may recall, Polmont was the end point of the highland trysts. All the highland cattle were driven there for sale in the lowlands, so it potentially would be an 'easy' place for highlanders to cross over and remain. Linda Merle

Hi Linda, For McLays, etc., I would recommend you contact Jill Larsen in Australia (http://www.gwsfhs.org.uk/omid/member.asp?member=699 ).
