Hi All, THere is a reference to "Dunsliebhe x dau of Maelmuire Ua Loingsigh, bishop of Lismore 1159" from some highland clan notes that Rob Livingston copied a while back. I was wondering if this information makes any sense to Niall. Even if this does not shed any light on our Isle of Lismore clergy ancestor, the juxtaposition of the names and the Celtic church connection certainly caught my attention for a moment. regards Donald(Livingstone)Clink

Donald, Yes an interesting note. From memory (not a good idea) I think Rob eventually decided this was in Waterford, Ireland. In 1150 we know that Cudulig was Abbot of Lismore. Regards Niall

Hi Niall, I assumed that this quote may have originated from the Ulster Annals or something like it, but interestingly I located it in a page of misc. highland clan and sept information of unknown origin that Rob Livingston had located. I will go back and try to check out the origin of this information of Robs. I can't make sense of this bit of information in the way it was presented however. Check this out and you will see what I mean. "Dunsleibhe x dau of Maelmuire UA Loingsigh Bishop of Lismore 1159. Possibly a younger brother of Macdun Macheath earl of ROss who married a daughter of Somerled died 1168 MacAedhalainn (Alainn=gen of athalaman aka Buirke or Lamont=McCoy MacAnradan xdau of Gilleabeirte King of Sudries, Son of Muirdach,

Hi Niall, Yes I suspected that entry refered to an Irish Bishop from Lismore,Ireland mentioned in the Annals. From what I can tell, Rob put together some notes on misc.clan information dated March 2006 and in it is this information on Bishop Maelmoire from 1159 seems to imply that he was a Dunnsliebhe of some sort and connected to Scotland. In any event, I am sure if this Bishop Maelmoire of Lismore Ireland was connected to the Dunnsliebhes you would have found out about it by now. On the face of it there is no evidence that he was either a Dunsliebhe or living in Scotland. The only Bishop Maelmoire in Argyll, Scotland that I have located so far was a Bishop Maelmoire circa 1040 at Iona. He only served for one year as Bishop there. Information on an ancient ancestor Maelmoire eludes us, but no doubt such a celtic clergyman existed on the Island in distant times. Anyways thanks for checking into this. regards Donald (Livingstone) Clink

Hi Niall, This won't clarify things any further, but it is interesting to note that around the time that Maelmuire Loingsigh was Bishop of Lismore, Ireland in mid 11th century there was a King of the Dalariadhe in Ireland named Domnall ua Loingsigh. regards Donald
