Iam tring to find out about the mcleas who moved to Strathconnon but there seems to be very little information written. Are they the same group as loch Achility? Seems like thry moved north early 15th century and earl of seaforth married heiress. Also many of them lost in a battle. If anyone has further info or reading it would be very much appreciated. These Mcleays moved across to north east corner Banffshire early 1800s and south to Edinburgh.

There is quite a lot of info in The Maclays of Lurgan, Edgar Maclay, 1889. I recently corresponded with David Sellars who wrote

Thanks. The information was interesting and useful. Seems like not so much interest in these Mcleays . Going to get round to going to Dingwall next year ,only an hour and half drive from home . to see what i can find out from museum and registry office . Certainly felt when at Lismore that there was some connection , so feel Strathconnon mcleas moved up from Appin . Although not very logical thinking...crazy talk !!

It's not that there's no interest--just little to contribute thus far!
