Dugald Livingstone of Bachuil and Donald Livingstone of Cloichlea
Hi All, I dont know what family connection there was between Dugald Livingstone of Bachuil and Donald Livingstone of Cloichlea on the Isle of Lismore. But it interesting that Dugald's daughter Anne was baptised on June 3, 1759 and that Donald's first child which was named Dugald was also baptised in the same parish church on the Island on June 3, 1759. This Donald Livingstone of Cloichlea was also the father of Donald Livingstone baptised 1771 or 1772 and Myles Livingstone baptised 1775 who may be the settlers/boatbuilders Donald and Miles Livingstone caught in the middle of dispute between Lord Selkirk and the Northwest Company in 1815.

Hi Kyle, A amazing as it seems over the years I have found published letters, journals and other sources that have allowed me to work with the basic facts about Miles and the Red RIver Settlement to pretty much fill in the blanks to recreate a fairly accurate account of his life from the time he left Scotland in 1812 to the time he left the Red RIver settlement in 1815 and was later granted land in Upper Canada. Interestingly when I was last at the book fair they wanted 600 bucks for a published inquiry from 1816 or 1817 of the events that transpired at the Red RIver Settlement that includes interviews with settlers. I was however at same fair to pick up a version of this report published in the 1970's for about 15 bucks. Nice to have the original copy, but the price I think was a bit excessive. Prior to this the story of Mile's life is a bit sketchy. His marriage entry for he and his wife Janet at Bowmore Round CHurch, Bowmare, Kilarrow Parish, Isle of Islay stated that

Hi All, I should further explain that my discussion over the past couple of years of Miles and his Lord Selkirk Red River Settlement Livingstone connection has perhaps helped to bring to the forum some of my distant cousins, descendants of the REd RIver Livingstone settlers that settled in the the State of Iowa before 1840. Belated welcome to Gerald and Edith. regards Donald (Livingstone) Clink
