Hi All, Note on this Battlefield map the regiment is referred to as "Appin". We are not alone. http://www.britishbattles.com/images/culloden/map.gif regards, Donald

And here's the version they are currently distributing at Culloden: ftp://kitenet.net/pub/home/kyle/Cullode ... _small.jpg Obviously, it maintains the "Stewarts of Appin and MacLarens" despite using the more reasonable "Athol men" for the Athol Regiment. One more thing to change! Kyle=

There have been many books written over the years about the Battle of Culloden, they may refer to a Stewart of Appin Regiment or the Appin Regiment, but how many can you find that refer to the regiment name as Stewart of Appin and MacLarens. I suggest going to a well stocked library in Scotland and going through all the books written in the last 260 years on the Battle of Culloden and record how many times the regiment is referred to as Stewarts of Appin and MacLaren. I suspect not many.
