Hi Barry,
If this John Lavingston of the the 8th Royal Battalion was born in County Mayo Ireland then he is likely not connected to the Mull, Argyllshire PEI and Cape Breton Livingstons we have been researching. Likely of a Scotch Irish Livingston family. Livingstons were quite well established in Ireland, particulary in the six counties of the North in Ulster from the Scottish Plantation period of the 1600's.
Great research on this one and one needs to go through all of the research you have done on this John Livingston and Sarah. Is this the same JOhn Livingston that received the grant from the Governor of PEI early on that we discussed a while back that served in the Governor's former regiment? For some reason I was thinking it was another JOhn Livingston. Hope you hear back from family tree dna soon regarding your Livingston cousins results. Let me know what you find out.
regards,
Donald
