Hi,
Looking into my family I have discovered some oddities. One relates to Malcolm (Malcom) Livingston (Leviston) and his marriage to Sarah (Marrion ) Campbell in1800 in Craignish. Sarah Campbell and Marrion Campbell are recorded on your Craignish births register but I believe they may be the same person. Sarah Marrion Campbell. This would explain confusion in marriage records which are actually banns being read with their marriage actually taking place on 20 Mar 1800. I have the photo of the register which includes the other dates. Also Sarah/Marrion are recorded separately and sometime together as having the same child. When it is pieced together they all fit in a neat chain. Im interested if anyone else has discovered this. Their son Donald (Recored as being born Leviston) forms another part of our tree and married Jean Donaldson in 1835.
Any thoughts welcome.
I think the most likely parent of Malcolm may be from Kilfinan but am still digging to find more credible links rather than another family tree.

Re: Malcolm Livingston of Craignish
Hi Ian,
I am just finishing up a Livingstone related project of my own I have been working on for quite some time now and have been quite busy with that recently but I noticed your interesting posting indicating you are a Western Argyllshire Livingston with connections to Kilmallie, Ballachulish, Appin and Ardnamurchan and Craignish. When I have more time I would like to take a look at your Western Argyllshire Livingston family info. A great-great-great grandfather of mine Miles Livingston a native of Morvern Parish, Argyllshire according to his marriage record settled in 1812 with his wife Janet also a Morvern Livingston settled at Lord Selkirk's Red River Colony in what was in Hudson's Bay Territory in then British North America. Miles Livingston and his brother in law Donald Livingston were hired to be boat builders for Selkirk's settlement. Miles later left the settlement in 1815 and after a lengthy canoe trip he and his wife and two children arrived in Upper Canada (Ontario) where found work as boatbuilder briefly with the British Navy and later as a barrel maker and farmer.
Back almost 20 years ago now our former North American Clan Maclea Livingstone Clan Commissioner the late Rob Livingstone a cousin of our Clan Chief Baron Niall Livingstone introduced me to the idea of genealogical YDNA testing which was being done by Familytreedna and which I knew nothing about. Following discussions on the subject with Rob, I decided to contact a Livingstone cousin of mine whom i recently discovered on line and as the YDNA of a Livingston with paternal Livingston Y DNA was necessary for a Y DNA test my Livingstone cousin kindly was able to get her Livingston father to do the Y DNA test with Familytreedna. Since then around 2006 I think it was there were a good number of Livingstons many of Argyllshire Livingston ancestry but others of a Lowland Livingston family origin that have been tested with family treedna. Having worked with numerous Livingstons of Argyllshire Livingstone/Livingston origins some existing Scottish records some not the YDNA tests of Livingstons of Argyllshire origin have more often than not matched them with other Argyllshire Livingstons who are most closely related to them according to how similar their Y DNA Marker results turn out to be. My Livingston cousin who was tested had many matches with one particular Western Argyllshire YDNA group consisting of Livngtons whose Livingston ancestors resided primarily in Morvern and neighbouring Mull in the 17th, 18th and 19th century but also his matches were Liviingstons with Livingston ancestors who lived in Ardnamurchan, Ballachuilish and one or two who ancestors lived in neighbouring Perthshire almost certain descended from early Livingstons from Western Argyllshire who migrated into neighbouring Perthshire looking for work perhaps in the 18th century.
If not a match with this group you could be a match with other Western Argyllshire Livingstons in the Familytreedna Project with a connection to the ancient Maclea Livingstone family of our Clan Chief from Bachuil, Lismore, Argyll. A number of Maclea Livingstone's have been tested who are also a close match YDNA test result match with our Clan Chief. While several Livingston who have been tested through the Family Tree YDNA testing of YDNA has been a interesting match with a proven descendant of Dr. Livingstone's brother. This YDNA test has helped to sort out Argyll Livingston families that lived in Argyllshire in the 18th and 19th centuries and well before that and which Livingston family groups they were most closely related. The YDNA testing with FamilytreedDNA has the potential to match LIvingstons of Argyll origin like yourself with other closely related or more distantly related Livingstons of Argyll Livingston ancestry who have participated in this YDNA project in the last 20 years. Perhaps something worth considering. I was very glad that a Livingston cousin did that test as he was fortunate to have a good number of Livingstone/Livingston YDNA matches and I found the testing to be quite helpful. Anyways this an interesting option out there for Livingston family researchers to better understand through YDNA testing how your Argyll Livingston family might connect in the distant past with other Livingston family of Argyll origin.
If you don't mind for the time being it would be helpful if you could post her on the forum a simple Livingston ancestral line for example from your grandfather Livingston going back generation by generation as far as you can go from your grandfather back to his earlier Livingston ancestors ie your great great grandfather for example including the name of their wives birth death and marriage info. That will help to familiarize myself with your main Livingston kin.
