Hi Roberta,
Yes nice to be back. The holiday was nice, weather perfect, but I dont like the sunburn. I have however been sick since I got home, first with the runs then a chest cold. In between that I was working on a 16 page article on Donald Livingstone for Kyle, so I guess I need another holiday soon.

Elizabethtown, Leeds County. I am not 100& certain but I think these Leeds County Livingstons could be connected to old Daniel Livingston born in the 1730's that was with Fraser's highlander's with Simon Fraser and General Wolfe at Quebec in 1759. He settled in New York State before the Revolution and then left after the Revolution receiving a loyalist grant as did his large number of sons in that area of Ontario. I think he received his grant in 1789 or around that time. So this person or persons you found in that later census could be a descendant of old Daniel and one of his sons would be my best guess.

regards,

Donald

Hi Roberta,

The last name you may have noticed on that list is my great great-great grandfather Miles Livingston. He is on a list of former Lord Selkirk Red River Settlers that left Selkirks settlement in June of 1815 and later arrived by fur trader's canoe at the Holland River in York County, Upper Canada. It was included in a letter to some Upper Canada Government official. North West Company officials let the Government of Upper Canada know that they had brought these settlers had arrived at the York River. This surviving list however which states that my ancestor Mile Livingston, his wife and two children (my great-great grandmother and her brother Hugh), regretably does not list all of the settlers that were taken by North West Company by canoe on a 1000 mile journey from the Lord Selkirk's Red River Colony in what was then Hudson Bay Company Territory to the Holland River in York County, Upper Canada.
