Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Jewel and Roberta,
Regarding my December 17 2009 posting of the 1871 Census Inverness County I incorrectly stated that Alexander Livingston of Middle River was Alexander livingston of Whycocomagh actually that was an Alexander Livingston of Middle River in Victoria County and he is descended from Bras d'or Boularderie Livingston Angus Livingston. Sorry about that. I just caught that mistake. Several months ago i went through the Inverness County Census records for the year 1871 primarily but also did Victoria County recording all the Livingtons in that County. The other Livingstons I located in 1871 were all the families at Lingan Mines. I think these were related to your family.

Hi Donald;
I believe John Livingstone wife`s was a double name - Mary Catherine. There are lots in our family like Mary Patricia, Ellen Marie and so on and when you spoke with them you called them by their double name like Mary Catherine.
Are you interested in the Angus Livingstone b. 1773, age 53, petitioned for land in 1826. Petioner - son Angus says in his petition that he emigrated with his fathers family 23 years ago. 1817-23=1794.
Sorry about my confusing the 2 petitions, Donald. The first one was in 1817.
Regards;
Roberta

Hi Roberta,
Can you check that Angus Livingston petition again. I didnt quite understand what was stated in the petition. If it was dated 1826 wouldnt he speaking and looking back from the year 1826, not 1817? According to the Ann Capstick info Angus a Napoleonic War vet born arrived around 1816 and settled around 1816 or 1819 at Boularderie, Bras d'or Victoria County . I am interested in the document you found however as if it is the same Angus Livingston it suggests an earlier date. We definitely have check out this document you have found to try and sort this out. I am afraid this is the kind of problem with some of this early Livingstons we will have try and sort out when and if any information descrepancies occur. I assume this is the same Angus Livingston that Ann Capstick research that settled at Bras d'or Boularderie. I assume he is speaking from the date of the document in stating when he first arrived at Cape BReton or Nova Scotia. You see what I am trying to understand.
Anotherwards if I say in a document from 1850 that I first came to the Country 25 years ago that means I arrived in 1825.
regards,
Donald

Hi Donald;
I have all the names of the Livingstone's living on Lot 55 in the 1881 Census. What is it about Angus that you want to know?
