Hi JOhn,
Please see my previous long posting with parish and census info on John Livingston who died in Kilmeny Parish in 1858 son of ANgus and Margaret and the James Livingston who settled in Canada. Found a few more interesting things. They were both weavers which is quite interesting.

Hi Donald,

I remember it well, I still do not know exactly who James is, obviously a relation of some type, there are only two James I can find, James Angus, b. 1830, who married Flora McDougall, & died on Islay, the other James was not born until 1904, so the search goes on.

On a different subject, Michael Ford, who ran the Mull Families site, has decided reluctantly, to close the site, the site contains a total of around 30,000+ names, approx. 700 of them being Livingstones who originated Mull & surrounding areas.

Michael has forwarded me a copy of this list of names, & given permission for anything of use to be used on this site, the majority of these names have been verified by seeing OPR/BDM certificates, hopefully, this will be of use to us in the future,

That is a loss, John!

I am glad we will still be able to access this information in the future. Is it possible to archive it somewhere? (We could set up a webpage somewhere to keep it if we needed, I think.)

Hi John,

The Society owes you a debt of gratitude for helping to save this family info on Livingstons of Mull origin. I am sorry to hear that the Mull site is shutting down but as Kyle as stated I am certain we can utilize this valued Livingston information in some way with our website.

Hi Donald,

I've forwarded a copy of the information to Kyle, I'm sure he will find a better way to make it available to everyone, than I ever would.

It's really Michael Ford we should be grateful to, for giving his permission to utilise the info.

I've got another project to look at, but I need to sit down & get my facts right on this one, Michael reckons his family & mines could be distantly related, through Neil at Shiaba, in the 1779 register of Argyll Inhabitants, unfortunately, I've been too busy at work to get time to look at it properly.

I'll sort it out in the next couple of days, then see if anyone can come up with an answer,

John.

Hi John,
I mentioned to you before that I have been in touch with someone connected to Donald Livingston and Christian Campbell family that in the early 1800's resided at Ross of Mull. Donald born in the 1770's is thought to have been born at Shiaba, Ross of Mull and possibly the brother of Angus Livingston the Chelsea Pensioner residing at Uragaig, Colonsay in 1841. Most of the sons ended leaving Ross of Mull by the 1850's and ended up settling in Ontario Canada. If you would like to contact my contact I may be able to arrange that. I have not communicated with them in a while.

Hi Donald,

Just found more info on Mary, daughter of Neil Livingstone & Christian Boyd, I've not had time to verify it on Scotlands People as yet;

According to this info, Mary had a son James McGilvray, who married Marion (Marjory) Morrison, b. 1822 in Laudle, Morvern, m. in Govan, Glasgow 02 Nov. 1850, Marion d. 27 Sept. 1898 in Lyndhurst, New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire.

James was b. 26 Dec. 1823 around Shiaba, d. Perth Prison, Perth, Scotland, 24 June 1892,
