Hi Kyle,

I dont know for certain that any Rosshire Macleays or Mclays or their descendants wear Mackenzie Tartan today but that they were seem to be considered a small clan that was historically connected to them and in that respect I get the impression that some of them could be considered to be or at least were considered by some to be a sept of Clan Mackenzie. Interestingly General Wade in his 1724 report on the Highland clans mentioned Mackenzies as having been a "clan engaged in the late rebellion (1719 Rebellion of the Old Pretender James III I presume) and also as he was mentioning smaller clans associated with Mackenzies, "Mclays inhabiting the countries of Lord Seaforth". Seaforth was a Rosshire Mackenzie I think.

regards,

Donald
