Emigrated to Canada in 1917 and settled on Vancouver island (Ladysmith).
Had two daughters Gladys and Jennifer (Jean)
Kind regards,

McAlpin.
See info below on what appears to be your family, although this info came from a good source, I would advise that you verify the facts, it should at least give you a starting point for your research, much of this info is on a site called Ancestry, which unfortunately, is not a free site. Hope the below info assists you,

Hello McAlpin,
I would agree with John that Harry E. son Henry and Rose Livingstone of Plymouth Devon, England is likely your ancestor. The 1901 English Census records the family of Henry and Rose Livingstone residing at Plymouth St.Andrews Parish, Devon, England.
Henry Livingstone age 36 Foreman b. Plymouth England
Rose age 39
Emily age 13
Harry E. age 11 b. Gosport, Alverstoke (Hampshire)
Albert age 9
Evan age 6
Harry E. grew up in above mentioned St. Andrews Parish, Plymouth, Devon
Now regarding the family information you have regarding Ladysmith,Vancouver Island I cant say for certain. And oddly enough there is a Ladysmith in Vancouver Island and a Ladysmith in the State of Virginia as in info that John Livingstone located on Harry E. Perhaps one of our Canadian or American genealogists can help John and I sort this one out.

Hi John,
Wow. Thats pretty swift. Ok I think that clarifys that Harry is connected to Ladysmith, Vancouver Island and not Ladysmith,Virginia. Sounds like Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada to me based on that latest info you have found. Richard E. Livingston, the grandfather of Harry E b.1891 died in 1895 as you mentioned and I think there is a death record from 1895 which may list the names of the father and mother. My sense is that there was some point when this family did not reside in Plymouth, Devonshire, but unless headway can made in terms of locating the Harry's great grandparents in the records, we may be stuck in Devonshire and not be able trace Richard E Livingstons Livingston family origins beyond his birth in the early 1800's in Plymouth, Devonshire according to all the census records. And without we cant clearly determine the families likely Scottish origins prior to the 1800's. I did not notice a Devonshire birth record for a Richard Livingston born in the early 1800's which also makes determining who his parents were more difficult. Depending on which census you look at Richard was born abt. 1814, 1818 or earlier in Plymouth,Devonshire.

Donald

Donald,
It was pure luck, I came across someone else looking for info on this family a few weeks ago, I've got some more info, but don't have time at the moment to type it up, should get it done by the weekend.
There is nothing so far to indicate where in Scotland the family originated, but Ancestry has info on military records etc for Harry, unfortunately, they may have to purchase a subscription to access these records. I think it costs about $20 for a one month trial, given some of the info available, I would recommend McAlpin thinks about going this way.
Also, Ancestry has at least 6 or 7 different people researching this family.
On a different subject, I've found some photos of Urigaig, Colonsay, as soon as I'm sure I've got the copyright stuff correct, I'll get them posted,
John

Hi John,
That is good to know that there are a number of descendants researching this Livingston family. As soon as I can access Richard's 1895 Devonshire death record which may tell us the name of Harry's great grand parents I will have to see if I can locate them in the records. I dont know how far I can go but hopefully sometime next week or sooner I will take a look at a copy of Richards death record.
regards,
Donald

Donald,
Just came across a Richard Livingstone, b. 1793 in Plymouth, also, the UK phone directories list four Livingstones in Plymouth, one of whom is a Richard, it could be worth McAlpin making a phone call to the UK, they might find at least one of the four is related to them,
John

Wow, very impressive everyone.
Thank you all very much.
If Richard E. Livingstone is Harry's grandfather and he lived/died in Plymouth, would you still say for certain that their origins would have come from Scotland?
Is Richard's ancestry possible to find?
Are all Livingstone's originally from Scotland?
Who else is looking for info on this Plymouth branch of Livingstones.
