Hi John,

One of Duncan Livingston and Christy Cameron's later descendants from their only child John Livingston (b.1848) following the marriage you mentioned, was Allan Livingston who survived World War 1 remained in the Argyll area and in later years of his life was employed as a Shepherd for the Achacha farm next to Savary and is buried with other Morvern Livingstons in old Keil Cemetery near Lochaline. He one of the last Livingstons in later twentieth century buried in Keil Cemetery as by then there very few residing in the Morvern area.

Duncan Livingston, Allan's ancestor, was a long time resident of Morvern and the son of Allan Livingston a son of the Morvern Jacobite legend of the Appin Regiment, Donald Livingston 1728-1816 of Savary, Morvern and his wife Jean (Jane) Stewart. This Duncan Livingston was also the informant on the death entries of three children of Donald Livingston and Jean Stewart of Savary, in the 1850's and 1860's: Robert Livingston and sister Ann Livingston of Savary and their brother Alexander Livingston of Barr, Morvern. Duncan and his wife had the one child John Livingston born the year of their marriage and then for the reminder of their lives lived separately in Morvern, with Christy raising John on her own with help of her Cameron relatives in Morvern. The Maconleas in the 18th century in Morvern and the Livingstones as were known in the years following the mid 18th century at one time could be found in almost all the Townland settlements on the West coast of Morvern but they were relative new comers to Morvern Parish having arrived in the Parish around 1600 according to the kin of Donald Livingston of Savary. Before 1600 they are believed to have lived in Achnacree, Argyll. Families of Clan McInnes, Cameron, McLean and Carmichael had likely been located in the Morvern considerably longer. By the early twentieth century there were only a few Livingstons remaining in Morvern as the other families in the 19th century had long since migrated to the lowlands or emigrated to Canada, the U.S, Australia or New Zealand. Duncan descendant Allan Livingston the shepherd at Achcha in his later life was one of the last. I think he died in the 1950's. Allan was not born in Morvern or Savary but elsewhere in Argyll but must of known years later in the twentieth century that the farm at Achacha where he later worked as a shepherd was walking distance from where his Livingston ancestors had lived at Savary, Morvern in the previous century and it was fitting he was eventually buried in Keil Cemetery.

regards,

Donald
