Hi John,

Thats great. Roughly 250 years later two descendants of two different sons of James Livingston b. 1763 and Sarah Wood are in contact. Mission accomplished. He may still be in touch with his cousin Gus.

regards,

Donald

H John,

The fact that your cousin Phillip Livingston has what I think is some tangible genealogical info linking him to an old Tranent Parish, East Lothian family line which appears to be the same one that Phillip O'brien and Gus Carrion are connected to and the fact that even more important you have through your Livington cousin Phillip Livingston what hopefully are Y chromosome marker results consistent with a Livingston male of this Tranent Parish ancestral of James Livingston b. August 21,1763 of Tranent Parish, East Lothian the son of Alexander Livingston of Tranent Parish and his wife Elizabeth Hog. Baptized said day August 21st by Mr. Cunningham Minister of Tranent, Witnesses Andrew Livingston and James Hog. James Livingston's father and mother, Alexander Livingston and Elisabeth Hog were married December 25, 1751 Tranent Parish, East Lothian Witnesses were John Boswl and Janet King. There is a name of a town or village where they lived at the time of their marriage but I can't quite read it. I thought it might be "Eden" but i am not sure that is correct.

Children of Alexander Livingston and Elizabeth Hog of Tranent Parish, East Lothian, Scotland
1.Charles Livingston born July 5, 1757 baptized July 10, 1757 Tranent Parish, East Lothian
2. Elizabeth Livingston born July 28, 1760 baptized July 28, 1760 Witnesses Andrew Livingston and James Hog
3. Jean Livingston born Sept. 22, 1761 baptized Sept. 27, 1761
4. James Livingston born August 21, 1763 baptized August 21, 1763 Witness: Andrew Livingston
(This was your ancestor James Livingston who later married Sarah Wood I believe)

Before the 1750's I can not say with much certainty who Alexander Livingston's parents were, so I will leave that to others to speculate on that. I however reasonably confident that Alexander Livingston and Elizabeth Hog were the parents of the James Livingston who was married to Sarah Wood. So it would seem likely to me that all of those who have contacted the forum and who we have discussed over the years descended from a son of James Livingston and Sarah Wood are would think of this same old Tranent Parish, East Lothian Livingston family line. I assume Alexander Livingston who married Elizabeth Hog is 1751 in Tranent Parish is connected to a Livingston family line that according to the Church of Scotland Parish records could go back to the 1600's and perhaps earlier but can't say for certain. No doubt the Y chromosome testing of your cousin Phillip Livingston combined with this genealogical info clearly connecting this Livingston family to Tranent Parish, East Lothian at least as far back as the 1750's and likely before should help all of you from this family line move forward in the years to come with your Livingston family research.

The relatively close match with two Livingstons Edwin Livingston of Livage (Livingston) Glamis, Angus ancestry and Ronald Livingston of Forfar, Angus ancestry both at 67-5 definitely suggests a shared ancestral connection perhaps in the 17th century between your Tranent Parish, East Lothian Livingston family group and this Angus, Scotland family of LIvage who are later referred to in the records as Livingston and Liveston. Andrew Lancaster our DNA Project Coordinator has done quite a bit of research on this Angus County LIvage-Livingston family and I think he has an ancestral connection with that Livage-Livingston family group. You should mention that you are the only descendant of James Livingston and Sarah Wood of Tranent Parish East Lothian who taken the Y 37 and 111 test but it looks like from the Y37 and Y67 results revealed so far that you are appearing to be a relatively close match at 67-5 with Edwin Livingston of Livage (Livingston) of Glamis, Angus County ancestry and a Ronald Livingston descended from a Forfar, Angus County Livingston family. The fact that you match two different Angus County Livingston descendants and a third Livingston whom I am not familiar with in terms of ancestry, I think really suggests a definite connection between your East Lothian Livingston family and these Angus County Livingstons.

regards,

Donald

HI John,

The relatively close match with two Livingstons Edwin Livingston of Livage (Livingston) Glamis, Angus ancestry and Ronald Livingston of Forfar, Angus ancestry both at 67-5 definitely suggests a shared ancestral connection perhaps in the 17th century between your Tranent Parish, East Lothian Livingston family group and this Angus, Scotland family of LIvage who are later referred to in the records as Livingston and Liveston. Andrew Lancaster our DNA Project Coordinator has done quite a bit of research on this Angus County LIvage-Livingston family and I think he has himself an ancestral connection with that Livage-Livingston family group. I wonder if other Liveston match is also of Angus County ancestry.

The 111 results are in and I will contact Andrew again. The 111 markers are now in various FTDNA projects including macwho. The BigY are still in the lab. This is getting interesting. I am still waiting to hear from Phil O’Brien. Expecting soon. John
