Hi All;

Between 1869 and the early 1930s, over 100,000 children were sent to Canada from Great Britain; during the child emigration movement.

Listed below are some of the Livingstones who were sent to Canada.

Arthur age 14, 1888. Ship-Polynesian. Destination Halifax. Dr. Barnardos party. Arthur is the only Livingstone of a party of 205 males to Halifax.

Hugh age 17, 1895. Ship-Siberian Glasgow to Brockville, Ontario. 138 boys, Mr. & mrs. John Thomson and Alexander Burgess; in charge. Mr. Quarries party.

Jack age 15, 1891. Ship Liberian Glasgow to Halifax. Party Quarries, Bridge-of Weir. Mr. Burgess and Mr. Quarries in charge of Party.

Harry Lavingston age 17. Ship Dominion 1896.

An interesting chapter in the story of British emigration to Canada that many Canadians are not aware of.

John age 10. Ship Austrian from Glasgow 1876. Miss MacPhersons party.

C. age 9, male. Ship Toronto from Liverpool, destination Brockville, Ontario. Group of boys for Mr. Wallace, Bellville, Ontario via GTR in charge of Mr. Clarke via G.T. Railroad.

Joseph age 12. Ship Tunisian 1900 via Liverpool. Destination Stratford, Ontario. MacPhersons House of Industry, London. Mr. Merrys Home, Stratford.

George age 11. Ship Corsican 1910 Liverpool to Knowlton, Quebec.

Frederick age 13. Ship Tunisian arrived 1911 via Liverpool.

Clarke age 15. Ship Royal Edward via Avonmouth August 1913.

John L. age 17. Ship Southwark 1905, Liverpool June 1905. Dr. Barnardos party. Destination Russell, Manitoba. 35 boys to the Russell Farm, Russell, Manitoba. Part of a larger Barnardo party, most to Toronto.

R. 14 male. Ship Prussian 1871 liverpool to Bellville, Ontario. 102 young people, mostly boys, with Annie McPherson.

Agnus Livingstone age 15. Ship Grecian. Departure Glasgow Oct. 21, 1892. Arrival Quebec Oct. 30, 1892. Party: Glasgow, Scotland. Destination Saint John N.B. 22 girls from Mary Hill Industrial School, Glasgow. For Mr. Gardner, Saint John plus two boys.

Charlotte Livingstone age 17. Ship Saturnia. Departure Glasgow June 3, 1911. Arrival Quebec June 11, 1911. Party: not given. Destination, various. Domestics and labourers.

Gracie Livingstone age 18. Ship Grampian. Departure Glasgow June 21, 1913. Arrival Quebec june 29, 1913.

Herbert Livingstone age 16. Ship Southwark. Departure Liverpool, June 22, 1905. Arrival Quebec July 1, 1905. Party: Dr. Barnardo`s, destination Toronto. 163 children in Dr. Barnardo`s Party, 162 Boys and 1 Girl to Toronto. Five boys were crossed off the list as not belonging to Dr. Barnardos Party and two boys were added without ages.

Josephine Livingstone age 14. Ship Arawa. Departure Avonmouth, Bristol, Sept. 11, 1899, arrival Quebec Sept. 22, 1899. Party: Dr. Barnardo. 101 girls.

With so much poverty among our people it is not surprising to find so many Livingstons included in these lists.
