Hi Roberta,

This is Virginia Adam's ancestor. Peter Livingston was in the early 1800's Port Appin's resident shoemaker. He was born in Port Appin, but his parents lived in Lismore prior to apparently moving to Port Appin shortly before Peter was born in the 1790's I believe. It is not clear from the actual parish records where Peter Livingston and Flora McColl son Angus was born. I would have suspected he was born in Port Appin, Appin Parish rather than Lismore Parish. His sibbling were born at Port Appin according to the Appin parish records and I found some months back Peter and floras marriage record in the Appin Parish records. They were as you mentioned married in 1817. See old forum postings on this family. Given that an older brother of Peter was born in Lismore and that Peter's mother a McNicol was from a Lismore area family I suspected that Peter's father Duncan Livingston was from Lismore. Interestingly DNA testing of this family line indicates that they may indeed have Lismore origins prior to moving to Port Appin in the 1790's given the close DNA match with the Bachuil Livingstones of the Island of Lismore. Of course Port Appin itself is a stones throw from the Island of Lismore in any event.

Peter's son Angus settled in Lambton County, Ontario in the 1840's, so I quite interested given my own family had a Lambton County connection, though we are no relation.
