Scotland trip 2017

Post by Greg Livingston »

Well folks, Joyce and I got back last night from 3 weeks in Scotland. We spent time in Glasgow, Oban, Lismore, the Great Glen, Lismore, Inverness, Lismore, Daviot/Craggie, Lismore, Aberfeldy, Edinburgh, the Military Tattoo, Lismore, Haddington, Falkirk, and finally Bothwell/Strasclyde before heading out from the Glasgow airport yesterday morning. Oh, did I mention I spent some time on Lismore? ;) I will be writing up an article for the newsletter to be sent out to Clan MacLea (Livingstone) Society members and posting some pictures as well as a few notes in the society member section. Please join our Society to see how great a trip it was.

Hi Greg,

Looking forward to seeing your photos and learning more about your trip. No doubt a memorable visit to the land of your ancestors and it was great that you were able to connect with Baron Livingstone in Edinburgh, visit with him at Bachuil Lismore and meet some of our other clan members while in Edinburgh.

Been a rough couple of months for me health wise since the summer with some severe allergy related issues complicating things, but starting to feel much better. Latest News: Welcoming Iain Roderick Livingston our latest DNA project participant and match with the Parker Livingston DNA Group and a documented descendent of Hugh Livingston a shepherd born in 1810 in Fernish, Morvern and his wife Mary McKinnon. Iain's sister is the family genealogist and has traced the family back to Morvern and followed them in later years when they ended up in neighbouring Mull. In what seems to be an interesting twist it looks like Hugh's father John Livingston may have been a Mull Livingston rather than a Morvern Livingston but was living in Morvern in the early 1800's at the time of the birth of Iain's ancestor Hugh Livingston in 1810. We may be able to verify the Mull ancestry in the not too distant future.

regards,

Donald
