We had bridies for lunch today. They are very good and, like nearly all good things, very fattening!

Indeed, Jill! I always have a couple at the local Scottish festivals every year. I guess it's good I avoid having the recipe around where it might find its way into the kitchen... (If I even have the equipment to make them right!)

Getting hungry now!

I don't make my own bridies. In fact we have them very, very rarely. I espied them while I was waiting for the butcher to cut a joint of lamb for me and, in a moment of weakness, bought a couple. My excuse: well, it was a horrible, cold day; Brian was attending a funeral and I reckoned we deserved some comfort food. But no more, I'm now on a diet!

I would be right there with you, Jill. At the Games I visit, I find it hard to not eat at least one, just to "immerse myself in the culture" :)

Ooh, what a good excuse! I must remember that when next I eat a really sinful and fattening Scottish delicacy that I am "immersing myself in the culture"! You could say that about cranachan for a start.

I find eating one for lunch when I'm throwing in the games seems to give me the extra push I need for the rest of the days competition.
