To celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of David Livingstone my wife, Georgean Lochhead, was asked to produce a bronze sculpting of the famous Missionary and
Explorer.
Georgean was born in Zambia and was commissioned to create the statuette by David Moir CBE, a committed Livingstone enthusiast, who has a home in Zambia on the banks of the Zambesi River. He has been searching for a number of years for a statuette of the Great Man and he now has the first casting.
The size of the statuette is 40cms high including the base sized 13cms x 11cms and weighs 10lbs (4.2 kgs ). A limited edition of 15 statuettes will be run and a photograph of the finished product can be obtained by contacting ; alastairlochhead@yahoo .co.uk.
You will recognise that the statuette is modelled on the full size statue, created by Sir William Reid Dick, which now stands at the Devil's Cataract, Victoria Falls
In Zimbabwe
