Hi John,

Happy to state that a descendant of the Port Hood and Judique, Livingston family of Cape Breton pioneer John Livingston Sr. ,mentioned in that old book on Inverness County, Cape Breton families as well as three other descendants of Inverness County, Cape Breton Livingston families are now a part of our DNA Project. All of those Livingstons originated from Western Argyll and most originated from Kilninian Parish in Mull, Argyll with a possible exception with a neighbouring Morvern Parish and Fort William? origin. With one most recent addition to this group we should have in a few weeks a very good idea I am hoping how closely related they all might be or not be as a group. It was assumed they were all of Mull origin but very recent info in recent weeks has suggested one is actually of Morvern origin rather Mull origin. Of course there is evidence that Mull Livingstons and Movern Livingstons descend from the same common ancestor so it will end up be just determining how closely related the Mull and Morvern Livingstons actually are. Not sure how easy that will be. The Port Hood/Judique Livingtons were said to have originated in Fort William but I suspect that this family was actually rooted to Mull before Fort William. Fort William could have been actually their departure point and not this Livingston families point of origin in Western Argyll also. You may be interested in knowing how closely related you are to these Cape Breton Livingstons when all the information is known.

regards,

Donald
