Saw this on the ARGYLL list....

an extract from the current issue of the Oban Times:

"A book celebrating the history of Mid Argyll has been launched.

"Dalriada: A Twentieth Century Kingdom" written by Argyll-based journalist Marian Pallister, is part of the work being done by the Dalriada Community History Project. . . . Memories in the book range from life in Kilmartin Glens, work on the Crinan Canal, and rural hardships in the bustling communities of Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig. . .

The book contains a wealth of photographs and illustrations that bring to life the existence of farmers and generations gone by . . .

The Dalriada Community History Project was formed in 2006 to conserve and enhance the cultural and natural heritage of the ancient kingdom of Dalriada." . . .

It sounds interesting, Kyle. Marian Pallister has also written another book called "Lost Argyll - Argyll's Lost Heritage", published in 2005 by Birlinn Ltd, www.birlinn.co.uk. As well as being an interesting book, it has a wealth of photographs.

Hi Kyle and Jill,

Both books sound worth checking out. So many on my list already. I am keeping my eyes open for some good cottage reading this summer up at the Lake.
regards,

Donald

Need something to kick your feet up with, when relaxing at the lake, most definitely!
