Modesto Highland Games

Post by livingstoneancestry »

Hi All

The St Andrew's Society of Modesto held their Scottish Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans on Saturday June 1st at Tuolumne River Regional Park. The weather was nice with temps in the mid to upper 90's. Thanks to being a river park, there was plenty of shade from all the trees.

A little different set up. This park is longer and narrow, which allowed all the clans to be lined up on either side of the main path/drive thru the park. About 20 clans were present and another 6-8 societies. About half a dozen food vendors and the same for other vendors selling products. Being a smaller games there were a fewer number of vendors but unfortunately less choice too. One plus was the children's playground near the tents.

Towards the end of the Games, there was a local boy scout troop that was going thru, I believe trying to learn more as part of a possible badge. We did have one person request additional information on our clan

Glad to hear it! Suzanne is a one-woman Clan unto herself, hitting so many Games. Bravo!
