There are Leitches in Kilmodan that may have married into the family of Lindsaig...Canadian Livingstone wrote:Where did we come across a Leitch before? Do you ever get a sense of Deja vu? Perhaps it was someone else I was researching recently.
*or may already be members of this family. Remind me to go into more detail about this at some point!

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Kyle and Roberta,
Thanks. I remember I had been looking actually at a Livingston family that was living in Kilmodan. There is a descrepancy regarding Duncan and Sarah that I have to sort out from the earlier information. Get back to you later.
From the 1841 Census Kilmodan Parish, Eastern Argyllshire these were a family probably connected to Duncan Livingston and Sarah Leitch.
John Livingston b.1786
Margaret b.1796
Janet b.1821
Lachlin b.1821
Charles b.1826
Robert b.1827
Margaret b.1829
John b.1832
Duncan b. 1836
THe birthdate of 1786 does not match the information that Roberta found for the son of Duncan and Sarah but this family in the 1841 census could be connected some way or perhaps another isolated Livingston family from elsewhere. Hang in there. THere are still a few things I have sort out and go through my earlier info on this family. The good news is that the age he gave in the 1841 census is probably wrong and I some other information from another source indicating that this is probably our Duncan and Sarah's son John with an incorrect age given. I am sorting out a few things regarding the earlier info I have on Duncan and Sarah and will get back to you all later on this.
regards,
Donald

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Barry;
I need your e-mail address. Or if you are in contact with Donald or Kyle, ask for mine. There is a fellow in the U.K asking about Donald age 25 who arrived on the Rambler 1806. I all ready gave him this much info; so if you have more then I will give him your address or not. Whatever you decide.
Regards;
Roberta

Hi Roberta
When you have it let me know and I will edit the post. If I leave my email address here it may increase the amount of spam I receive, so I will remove this post. I have to say that I have not done any research relating to Donald Livingston of the Lot 31 area. I will do some searching if he has specific questions, at the archives in Charlottetown. Did you direct him to the research that John Collins di that is on the Island Register site?
Barry

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Guys,
I think this might help.
Correct me if I am wrong but this gentleman from the UK is in our DNA Project and he has already been tested and proven not to be closely related to the person in our DNA project who is a direct descendant of the Donald son of Donald and Mary Livingston of Lot 65, Queens County PEI who arrived aboard the ship the "Rambler" in 1806.
regards,
Donald

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Donald;
More on the John Livingstone of Wentworth, Cumberland County who died May 21, 1874 at age 92.
John married Sarah Salter Feb. 14, 1818 daughter of Eleanor Maxwell and Ebenezer Salter who were married September 25, 1782 in Halifax but, lived in Wentworwth.
The informant, Angus Livingstone is probably the one I copied out of D. Whytes book:
Livingstone, Angus from Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Argyll. to Wallace, Cumberland Co., N.S. 1847. Wife Sarah with him. Son Joshua H. 1847-1932, merchant and MLA. I presume that MLA is Member of the Legislative Assembly-R.

Roberta

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Roberta,
Thanks for that. This may be a silly question but is it Cumberland County or Wentworth County. Can you check that out. For some reason I have seen it both ways and only one can be right. If I am wrong then I will have to change it because I think I may have written it as Wentworth County. Any help on that one would be greatly appreciated.
I invited two descendants of Donald and Mary Livington who arrived in 1806 at PEI aboard the Rambler to join you, Jewel, Barry and the others in a Maritime Livingston discussion at the forum. One of them has been in touch with John Collins who is the foremost expert on Donald and Mary Livingston of Nine Mile Creek, Queens County, PEI.
regards,
Donald
