Hi Bob, Hello again. Based upon the information from the U.S 1900 Census in which a birth date of 1843 was provided for your ancestor James Livingston and my check of the Scottish census records 1861 and 1871 indicates that there were next to no James Livingstons or James Livingstones living in Argyll or any with that birthdate. It seems however very likely from looking at these census records that your James Livingston was born and lived in lowland Scotland. Based upon a close study of the Scottish census records one possible candidate for your ancestor might have a James Livingston born abt.1843 in south Leith Parish, Edinburgh and a resident of South LEith Parish, Midlothian. He is listed in the 1861 Scottish Census at the age of 18 a sail maker journeyman by profession living with his father who appears to have a second wife named Ann age 29. The father James Livingstone is 55 and born abt. 1806 The father was born in Edinburghshire. There is a William age 28 and an Elizabeth age 5 whom I assume is half sister to James age 18. In any event this may or not be your ancestor. He does not show up in subsequent census records which makes me think he might have emigrated and could be at least a possible person to consider as your ancestor. I think at any rate that your James Livingston more than likely lived in the lowlands before leaving his home in Scotland in 1871 or 1872. As many highland Livingstones settled in the lowlands by the early 1800's it is still quite possible that his father's father was born in the highlands, but I can say that certain. All I can say that is very likely that your James born 1843 was more than likely born in one of the lowland counties of Scotland. Hope this is of some help in your search for your ancestor. If you could find his marriage record that would prove or disprove my theory. The LDS might have his marriage recorded on an microfilm index. Were they married in Scotland or the States? Kyle and David might have some

Hi Bob, I took a quick look on the LDS site but could not find any mention of your ancestors James and Prudential Livingston. Interesting name Prudential. More common 19th century variants I suppose would be Prudence, Pru, Prudencia, Prudy and Prue. I will pass your genealogy info on to our U.S experts. regards, Donald
