Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Barry;
I guess you know, by now, that you are inextricably intertwined with the Livingstone's of Clyde River and the Murray's, who seem to be everywhere on PEI. It is not surprising, to me, that you find a Murray and a Livingstone in the same household at Murray River. Later,
Regards;
Roberta

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi All
I have been checking the 1863 PEI Lakes Map and in Lot 64 we have a D. Livingston living in Murray River, and a J. Livingston living in Little Sands. I would be inclined to go with the Murray River notation rather than the Murray Harbour one. There are alot of names on this map. If someone else wants to have a look to confirm......four eyes are better than two. The J. Livingston is likely a John Livingston if going with the law of averages
.

Hi Roberta
I only have one connection to the Murrays so far that I have found, but as I have explained to Donald.....I know this all connects somewhere, but I just haven't been able to track down that link that connects evrything. I have no connection to the Livingstone's of Clyde River although I suspect it is there. Now we seem to be looking at the possibility that a family in Cape Breton inexplicably has connections to Murray River, PEI. Even the fact that they possibly might be related does not rule out the fact they were married. My grandparents were second cousins, so the gene pool on PEI can sometimes be fairly small. Hmmmm.....I am somewhere between having too much information about my family and not enough. Sometimes this is really hard to keep track of.
Colin's son John #1, of his children, Effie married an E. Haberlin from Murray River and another daughter married a Davy from Murray River. They lived on the original farm in Forest Hill and I knew their son Vernon as a young boy. Another daughter, Flora, married a Saunders man and lived in Boston.

Hi Barry;
There is a James Livingstone and Matilda MacLeod having a child, William James; March 14, 1869: at Murray River. Barry, where is Cape Bear? Then there is Sarah Matilda Livingstone b. July 18, 1867 born to Matilda and James.
How can I locate that map of Lot 64 having all those names, Barry.
Regards;

HI Barry;
May I make a suggestion: that you go back and read the Livingstone's of Clyde River, I believe you will find Harriet Grant there. According to Donald's finding in the Mabou Census there is a Kitty living close to the residence of Old Kate. Maybe she is Colin's widow.

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi All
This is getting even more twisted. I cannot prove this theory. John Livingston and Catherine Campbell according to the record on the Mull baptism and birth records had a son Donald. He was baptised in 1812 in Scotland. Now Donald Livngston in Murray River PEI is listed in the 1881 Canada census as being 60 years old at the time of the census. Is it possible this is Colin's brother Donald? Kate would be Donald's daughter and that would mean that Old Kate married her first cousin. This is not unheard of in those days and marrying cousins was quite common. I cannot prove this theory though. This would be huge for my family history should it be true. Kathleen Lamb has searched for years to the identity of Donald's father. Likely the DNA test would prove the relationship.
*******************************************************************************************************************
I have made some edits to above. I had incorrectly entered the birth of Donald. I found some old posts on sites for the discussion around this Donald and some say that Daniel is a common nickname for Donald, considering the pronounciation of Donald with the Scottish accent which comes out Danald, therefore a nickname of Dan is common. To prevent confusion, Donald's sometimes adopted the name Daniel. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Barry;
I do, I do know about the tradition of Scottish nameing and how important it was to carry on the name of one's father and grandfathers name. My great grandfather was named Donald David, however, he was called Daniel or D.D. Even when he died his relatives put Daniel on his tombstone. So you should be consious of that fact when you see the name Donald he could be calling himself Daniel. I believe our Donald knows about this as well.
By the way, Barry, I tried to log in to your TREE but my e-mail address was rejected as being incorrect.
Another thing these Murray's were not far from Murray Harbour as they were just across the Strait in Port Richmond, Pictou County.
But, I like the idea of pursuing the Donald option. What year was he born? Let me help with that.
Also, the first cousin bit. Yes, it was; you could say it was the norm, within Scottish families. In this country, it was illegal for first cousins to marry up until the early eighties. I remember watching the House of Commons and a member had to petition the House for their permission; for a constituant who wanted to marry his first cousin.

Hi Roberta
Try logging into the site now. Maybe I had the permissions set wrong. Can you test please. I want only deceased people showing and I don't want people to be able to add entries.
