St Andrews Congress

Post by Bachuil »

I was honoured to be invited as a "Visiting Dignitary" to the 27th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences currently taking place at St Andrews. The congress organisers were keen to portray the Story of Christianity in Scotland by including the Coarb of St Moluag, with the Bachuil Mor, representing the Celtic Church as well as the representatives of the Roman Catholic, Episcopalian and Presbyterian Churches. As father was unable to attend, I attended as Prior Lismorensis, the Prior of Lismore as Depute to the Hereditary Abbot, the Coarb of St Moluag. I have added some photos to the gallery. http://www.clanmclea.co.uk/gallery.asp?Sort=za These photos were taken by my daughter, Catriona.

Great pictures, Niall! May I ask what crest badge you were wearing for the event, and which tartan?

Dear Niall, Thank you for showing pictures of you attending the 27th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences. It looks a very splendid occasion. They did have a bit about it on BBC

Hi Niall, My father dropped by the house today and we viewed the photos from the Island of Lismore and the recent pictures from the Heraldry event. The gallery was truly a welcome addition to your MacLea Livingstone site. Don't know how rare it is, but I picked up a copy of Dr. David Livingstone's autobiography that was published about 1860 in the United States, a couple of years after the British edition, at a book fair. It is in reasonably good shape for a book of that age with illustrations and I just couldn't resist purchasing it. It will complete my summer reading, though I will have to be careful not to spill coffee on it.

Thanks, Kyle. The Crest Badge is an old one - I am still awaiting the first of the new. I understood the event was to be a day/morning event so had planned to wear tweed jacket and plaid.

Thanks, Donald It is a little difficult to think of photos that might be of interest. You were lucky to find that book! Regards Niall

Thanks for the link Niall. I think I just made you out on the stage. I know all about shrinking wardrobes too. I've got one as well! Jill
