Hello everyone Our late friend Rob had a webpage where he had collected a lot of information about what is known or speculated about the descent of Dr Livingstone's relatives down to the present. Does anyone still have a copy? Steve Wilson still has a webpage up, but it is more restricted to what is most well documented. In the meantime all of us who follow the clan DNA project continue to hope that more of the families with possible links to Dr Livingstone will join and compare notes. Best Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew I keep trying to talk my brother into participating in this DNA program, either to prove or disprove which Livingston family we're related to, but so far he won't listen to me.

Hi Suzanne, Yes I was focusing on Listowel, Ontario where Dr. David's older brother John settled. It is said that John helped DR. David financially when he started University. John apparently wrote a nice letter to one of the New York papers from his home in Listowel, ONtario in 1874 regarding his brother's experiences in Africa. But yes there does appear to have been an Lanark County, ONtario connection I should check out. That won't be a problem as I live in Ontario. regards Donald (Livingstone) Clink

Hi Paulette, Gosh thanks for the compliment, but I am afraid this is only a hobby to me. I am not a qualified historian, just a Livingstone descendant trying to sort out fact from fantasy. Perhaps at one time there was an ancient history written about our clan and it was lost when either the British put Movern and the Isle of Lismore to the torch around the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie's rebellion of 1745 or earlier during the reformation when the famed library of the nearby Isle of Iona was burned by religious zealots. Anyways we do luckily have a few old manuscripts and records to provide with some insight into our ancient past and the possible origins of the clan. I assume you are not certain your ancestor originated from Ireland or Scotland. I wonder if military rolls recording the enlisted men survive for your ancestors regiment that was stationed in the West Indies. I don't have access to New Brunswick census records as I reside in the Province of Ontario, but I might be able to figure out how to get more info on your ancestor. As for how your ancestor connects to our clan, at this point I could not honestly tell you or whether he originated from the Highlands or Lowlands. regards Donald Livingstone Clink

Somewhere in my wanderings, and somewhere on this forum, I have noted exactly the same thing. There is a website out there somewhere that names all the Livingstones in different parts of Ontario, and definitely Livingstone in his writings that I recall said that there was noone left of his original line in the highlands or Ulva as they'd all emigrated to Canada.

Hi Keith, I also remember that it was one of the Livingstones that settled in the early 1800's in Nova SCotia or PEI. I am not certain he settled in New Brunswick however.I have that info somewhere on file. Also
