Hello Flora, Please do take some more photos of Lismore for us all. It is a lovely island, and I hope you have a super Easter holiday. I am just off on holiday to see my grandchildren. I think they are about the same age as you. They call their father "Dad" too! Enjoy your new camera. Jill

A cheery hullo to everyone. I grew up with many stories from my late Father of the Clan Livingstone and on my 18th birthday he presented me with the brooch with the motto 'Si Je Puis' upon it.

Hi All, Regarding Steve Wilson's e-mail of last year regarding Dr. Livingstone's Uncles, actually know one other detail about them. They ( Charles, John, Duncan and Donald?) according Dr. Livingstone in his 1858 book all served as soldiers or sailors during the Napoleonic War. It is also known that his Uncle Charles was killed during the war. What happened to Uncles John, Duncan and Donald after the war? Did they by any chance take up an offer to settle in British North America in the early 1820's as did many ex military men both Glasgow lowlanders and Highland folk. Dr. Livingstone in letter written in 1850 talked about relatives in Lanark County, Canada West (old name for Ontario) including his brother John who later settled in Listowel, Perth County, Ontario. Now oddly enough two Livingstones a John and Duncan that are known to have settled in Lanark County, Ontario were aboard the ship "David of London" as left Greenock, Scotland May 19th 1821. Aboard this ship were families from the Glasgow area and elsewhere in Scotland. Whether these are the "lost" Uncles of Dr. David and the other relatives besides his brother John he might have been referring to is a long way from proving at this point. It is however worth pursuing to see where this information takes me. Hopefully Lanark and Perth County, Ontario Historians can shed some light on whether any of the "other' Livingstone families that settled in these Counties between 1820 and 1860 had ever mentioned a connection between themselves and Dr. David in the 19th century. Clearly there are lots of records noting John Livingstone of Listowel, Ontario as Dr. David's older brother without question. Some of these the late Robert Livingstone brought to our attention previously. A helpful librarian is assisting me in acquiring a copy of the old New York Herald letter written by John Livingstone on his famous brother in the 1870's which I will pass along to the site when locate it. In the process of searching Ontario Livingstone records for any possible Doctor David relatives, I am doing a systematic recording as best I can of early Highland Livingstone settlement in Ontario, Nova Scotia, PEI and Manitoba. Interestingly enough the vast majority originated from Argyleshire and Mull in particular.

Hello Everyone, I am David Livingston from Arizona. My father and Grandparents came from Stirling Scotland to NH back in the 40's and I am researching my Scottish heritage. It appears I am from the lowland Livingston(e) clan but I haven't gotten that far back in the past and who knows. I enjoy reading the forum and thank you all for having it and adding to it.
