The Clan MacLea in Polish!

Post by Canadian Livingstone »

Kyle, No not meant as sarcasm. I am sorry but I could not resist the temptation to inject a little humour into the stalemate between us. There are times such as this when a joke is not a bad thing. Anyways knew you would get the joke and perhaps laugh for a moment as I did. I think my cousin Gerald thinks I am literally going to Argentina. I don't think he will want to know whole silly story and I think I will spare him the details.

Hi Jerry, How are you? Have you made any more progress on your Livingstone family research? I think I have divised a possible plan to have Lord Selkirk's papers sent to me, but I have to consult with some archivists. I am in no condition to get to Ottawa. Rest assured my feet will be firmly planted for the next while in Canada. My heart has been giving me a bit of trouble. Not that Argentina would not be a nice place to visit some day. regards Donald

Donald, Great news on you being able to get a close look at Lord Selkirk's papers.

Congratulations, Jerry. We're always glad to have another addition to the family tree. I've been waiting to get the chance to ask you if you know when the Rose family came to the Red River Settlement? I've been in touch with your cousin Diana, and she says 1813. That seems a little early to me. The names aren't on the passenger list that's in the book from The Lord Selkirk Association of Rupert's Land, although that passenger list is not completely reliable, I think. What is the story that's been passed down in your family - or what has your research uncovered? And do you know where David Esson came from and when? Edith

Edith, Tell Diana I said hello, I believe I only met her once when my Grandmother Harriett and I went to her mother's funeral in Hopkinton.

Thank you. Yes, that's interesting. I had most of the names and dates but it's good to have them confirmed by a member of the family. Isabella is a great name, traditional but not out of date. I know you'll have a great time with her regardless of what her name is. Edith

Hi Edith, My apologies for being under the weather recently. My lungs are apparently in great shape, but the heart is not so good and the energy just is'nt what it used to be. Sometimes just typing requires a herculean effort.
