Hi Kyle, I don't think McColl's at Appin are connected with Clan McCauley and I'm not certain that Clan MacCauley is connected with our Maconleas or your MacLeas of Linsaig and Bute. I don't know about those more remote northern McLeas who are connected with the MacKenzies. I am curious about Clan MacCauley but haven't seen a definite account of an connection with highland Clan Maconlea Livingstone.

Obviously one could spend a lifetime searching for families that have some perceived connection to Clan Maconlea of Western Argyll. Indeed the original members of Highland Clan Maconlea did disperse throughout SCotland and to other parts of the Globe. (Though not neccessarily by their own choice.) But other matters of greater concern have been brought to my attention. The Clearance project is hopefully underway soon after a formal list of all those Livingtones who were victims of the Highland clearances can be constructed. Another concern of mine is the affects of Global Warming on Australia. As many of our Clan Livingstone today live in Australia, by the end of the century or sooner many of these clan members may be without drinking water and viable farm land. While politicians play games with the concept of Global Warming, Australia is drying up. Our Australian Livingstone may one day need the help of Highland Scotland. Will Highland Scotland take them back in their time of need? This may seem incredible to you now, but the looming Australian drought disaster is no figment of the imagination. regards DOnald (Livingstone) Clink

I don't believe the McColls have any close, recent relationship with the McOnleas or McLeas, either. As for McCauley/McColly, I *do* continue to wonder based on my DNA matches.
Clearances project
Hi Donald, Looking forward to hearing more about this Clearances project as well! Kyle=
