Hi David, Nicely done. I have a contact with Movern Clan McInnes, a clan who also served in the Appin Regiment Clan democracy in action. You got to love it. regards, Donald

Draft Letter to the National Trust for Scotland

Post by Canadian Livingstone »

Hi Kyle, Indeed our support base could widen, but at this early stage it is my belief that our base should consist of those connected somehow to the clans in the Appin Regiment. Their voices will soon be added to yours and will be heard throughout the Appin and Movern glens and echo in the abandoned cottages of our Livingstone crofter ancestors. One thought I had was for you and David to contact the Isle of Lismore website. Represented in the population of that Island are many of the families you mentioned in your list of the Appin regiment. Your letter again was right on the mark. A work of art. We will not be ignored. Sometimes you get the impression that some SCots would like to forget about the 1745 uprising. Well newsflash, apparently not everyone wants to forget. We want those people who gave everything for SCotland at Culloden mentioned in signage or a monument and appropriately honoured by the people of Scotland at their battlefield site. Nothing less is acceptable. regards Donald

Draft Letter to the National Trust for Scotland

Post by Canadian Livingstone »

Hi Kyle, I have just left a message with Donald McInnes whose family are from Movern and who has met Baron Livingstone, some years ago. He wrote me a few lenghthy letter in 2005 and kindly allowed Niall to use the picture of the old Livingstone stone from 1760 he had taken. As he is a Scot with family from Movern, I think his insight on this Appin Regiment matter will also prove invaluable if I can get interested in the matter that so concerns us all. regards Donald

Many thanks, Donald, this contact on Morvern will be very important, I would think. and I do think dropping a line to the Isle of Lismore website and/or the new centre there would be a good idea.

Here is another US Congressman with a last name that is on the list that may like to send a letter on our behalf.

Sounds like they're opting for the "own the stone" route... "fixing" the problem by going around the problem.
